At HP online support, there are 10 files listed. Last time I formatted, I had to go through all 10 til I got one that worked. I saved the one that worked, sp56942.exe . This time, it doesn’t work. So I can only assume it was some combination of the 10 files I tried that got it to work. This time I would like to do it with the proper file the first time. It’s a shame that HP’s support page doesn’t ask you for your S/N like other companies do, and then tell you which file you need. So here is the info I see you ask other people for, hopefully, you can provide the correct info. Thanks.

You need these drivers.
This package provides the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver that enables the Realtek Network Interface Card (NIC) Chip in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.
Wireless: That was the correct driver for the hardware ID you posted.
The next time you have to reinstall the operating system, just google the ID’s you have questions about, and you will be able to find the right driver the first time.
Installing drivers by the trial and error method is a sure way of corrupting the windows registry, which is probably why the right driver isn’t working anymore.
Here is a newer driver than the one on your notebook’s support page. It should work.
This package contains the driver installation package for the Ralink Wireless LAN Controllers in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.
If this one doesn’t work either, I will give you some instructions to try manually installing the driver.
1. Скачайте необходимый файл. Розархивируйте его в какую-нибудь директорию.
2. В диспетчере устройств выберите устройство, которое требует установки/обновления драйвера.
3. Правый клик на этом устройстве и выберите — обновить.
4. Укажите директорию с распакованными файлами и нажмите ОК.
